it's because just like in english like faggot and gay and homo all mean the same thing but some names sound funnier and all that's how it is in spanish. marica (maricon) is like the funniest way to say fag so it might be an exact translation but the feeling of the word isn't there...u get it? but then again different spanish speaking countries have other words for it as well. in my country we call em a colchon-literally translated in english means mattress-funny in spanish but makes no sense in english
