... can't be a speed record. The Thrust SSC is a specially developped car (for speed records) and can not be beaten by a Lexus. By the way, he did not seem to be experienced enough in driving cars. Couldn't hold him well, especially when using some nitrous (if i saw it right). Don't make me laugh! :(

first of all, this isnt a lands speed record, its a 1/4 mile record. and only for the lexus sc300. (inline six motor, supra motor, or 2jz motor what ever you want to call it.) this car holds the record for the fastest sc300 in the 1/4 mile. Second, its not backfires!!!!!! its a little thing called after fire, all it is, unspent or unburnt fuel that makes its way through the motor with out being ignited. the fuel travels into the exhaust and is egnited by coming in contact with the very hot exhaust walls. i.e. flames out the exhaust. This happends when you have a very rich air to fuel ratio. This car is pushing well over 6,000 cc's of fuel through the injectors!!! To give you an idea of how much that is, your moms honda civic might be pushing 400 cc's if that!!!!! Third, the car is not going to go in a perfectly straight line when the rear tires are still spinning half way down the track. So for all you people that have watched the fast and furious and know so much about nitrous or NOS!!!!11!1 This lexus is a real "ten second car."

First of all, how can we verify that this is actually a record breaker when the board isn't seen. Second of all, he jumped the gun by almost 1/2 second, so even if the numbers were there, they would mean nothing. Third, I've driven cars like that, and I can keep them straight. I've spun my wheels for the whole 1/4 mile, and I've kept it straight. Watch any top fuel dragster, funny car, or REAL racer, and you'll see them keep their cars in a better line than that guy can. Fourth, afterfire is a type of backfire. Read the following: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Back-fire. I agree, that's a sweet car. We're not knocking the car. We're knocking the video of it, because it proves nothing other than this car is fast and its fuel mixture is too rich. We're also knocking the driver, because he isn't that good. By the way, my 68 year-old mom drives a Trans-Am WS6. I drive a Nissan MiniVan. I'm 31, and I can afford my own car. Sorry, no Honda Civics.

For those of you misinformed, ive seen this car run at the track, i know people who know him. It is a lexus sc300 with a 2jzgte highly modified. That backfire is from running the car as lean as can be to make more power. And yes, that is the fastest sc300 out there running around 931rwhp and over a 1000 crank hp. Can't drive the car lol, i want to see you with 1000hp underneathe you and see how well you will handle spinning wheels in high gears. Even after all that he still kept on it after getting squirrley. The car is sick and he is an excellent driver. I believe that was the run he did 9.59 in the quarter and yes that is the real thing, whether you want to believe it or not. I can't believe i wasted my time even posting this to some of you meatballs who don't believe it.

Like I said in my earlier post: "I've spun my wheels for the whole 1/4 mile, and I've kept it straight." Even with that, I'm not kocking the car, or even the driver. I'm knocking this video. Show me a video where he actually gets numbers on the board, and maybe I'll respect it. This video proves nothing. He could be Superman, and the description could claim that as well, but if we don't see proof, then the video is not evidence of any claim. Therefore, this video is NOT "Chris Threadgill's world record with a Lexus SC300", because there is no evidence to prove that it is. So, for those of YOU who are misinformed, claims need proof to support the claims, otherwise there is no valid argument. This claim of a record breaking run is not properly supported with evidence, which is why we INFORMED individuals are trashing this video. So, I still hold the argument that the record that was broken was the "most backfires (afterfires for those picky people) in a quarter mile." That is probably the best claim for this video, since there is pretty sound (no pun intended) proof of the claim.

WOW some good comments but some weird ones too, so I'll add mine. Yep the guy can not drive, but not because it got a little bent out, that happens to all drivers at 1 time or another for various reasons. Even a non racer should realize that from watching drag racing on TV. You'll see professional drivers who have held many records occassionally get bent up off the starting line, mid way or at the top end. It's no big deal. AND every racer has gotten a red light or 2 What makes me agree he's not very good is that he simply shifts like a 1 legged granny!!! BUT no one starts off being a great driver, so give the guy a break. (ok I agree that some guys drive for 30 years and never improve, but we don't know about this guy) As for the horse power comments, do you know what it takes to make 1000 HP???? Not likely that this car gets near that figure, or anywhere within the same neighborhhod. All that matters is the guy is racing and into cars. I'm sure if you guys are into drag racing you have seen or at least read about Ace Manzo. Around 1970 Ace brought his 56 Chevy into a body shop I worked at and we all made fun of the dopey kid who put a freakin 389 Pontiac in the 56. I watched him go from a dopey kid who drove like crap, to being one of the top funny car drivers in the world By the way, I've raced door slammers (all 4 speeds)like my 69 AMX 10 second car, 66 Ram Air TriPower GTO that at that time ran on the NHRA Record of 12.5 seconds, a 454 powered 66 Chevelle that ran low 9's, and a 32 Bantam former AA/Altered car that ran high 6's and low 7's using various big and small block Chevies. Also drove front and rear engine dragsters and even a Formula V As for his times, if yer gonna post a claim to be the fastest of anything it would make sense to post a better video and show the times on the tower.
